More than 7,000 original Fischer-Dübel S6 in different colours on a hard foam panel. Original size 185 x 135 cm

Fischer´s best-known inventions include the polyamide S-Dübel, launched in 1958, and the "fischertechnik" modular system. Fischer also created steel anchors, drilling rigs, cement-bonded fixings, bone bridges and compostable potato toys.

Previously, the invention of the synchronous flash for the camera had enabled him to set up his own company, which he founded in 1948 in his homeland in the Black Forest. By the end of 2013 he had applied for a total of 1136 patents and utility models and is considered one of the most successful inventors worldwide. Even in his old age, he still thought almost every day about the new developments he could bring to the world. In 2014, the European Patent Office awarded him the Inventor´s Prize in the Lifetime Achievement category.

"What Bill Gates was to the home computer, Artur Fischer was to the DIY enthusiast," wrote the SPIEGEL in early 2015 about the multi-inventor. The company he founded in 1948 was handed over to his son Klaus Fischer in 1980. Artur Fischer died in 2016 at the age of 96.

Under the leadership of Professor h. Senator h. e.h. Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Klaus Fischer, the owner and chairman of the holding company, the Fischer Group continues to expand: Produced in 7 countries, organized in 46 national companies, distributes its products in over 100 countries and employs over 5,000 people worldwide. In 2017, the group of companies achieved worldwide sales of approx. 812 million euros.

Characteristic for the family-owned company is its innovative strength, which has repeatedly led not only to new products but also to the development of new business fields. Today it is the five divisions fischer Fixing Systems, fischer automotive systems, fischertechnik, fischer Consulting and LNT Automation.

In 1987 Klaus Fischer introduced the fischer mission statement, in which the company goal is defined and the binding values for all in the company: innovative, independent, serious. Early he recognized the need for new organizational structures and management methods. Following the ideas of the Japanese Kaizen (continuous improvement), he developed his own philosophy for improving all company processes and avoiding waste (fischer ProcessSystem). In 2007 Klaus Fischer was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class for his outstanding commitment to in-company and external training and further education.

Investments in training and further education are investments in the future. Employees, not plants and buildings, are a company´s greatest asset. With their knowledge and commitment, they are changing the company day after day. Qualified employees are therefore indispensable in order to remain competitive in the future. However, the course for this is not set with in-company training, but much earlier. That is why we promote the talents of young people in numerous educational projects and initiatives in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and universities.

Only wise people can make progress. For this reason, the "Knowledge Factory" was co-founded in 2005, for example. With joint projects such as the Erzählwerkstatt, KIEWIS or KiTec, the fischer group makes children and young people keen on the future.

Comments of the designer on Fischer-CoreTrait:

I am of the opinion that there is no better example in which one could make the message of this exhibition clearer in the relationship of the ingenious little one to the achieved size of the company.
